Global MND Awareness Day Saturday, June 1st, 2013 This Friday, June 21st, is Global MND Awareness Day. The Euan MacDonald Centre is joining organisations around the world to raise awareness of motor neurone disease. This year, we are joining with the MNDA to promote screenings of the film “I am Breathing”. I Am Breathing tells the remarkable true story of Neil Platt, a young father who found out he was dying from motor neurone disease just months after the birth of his son Oscar. Neil wanted to raise awareness of MND and this was the focus of his last few months. You can read Neil’s moving blog, “The Plattitude” here. EMC members will be attending the UK premiere of I Am Breathing in the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 20th June (tickets still available at the time of writing) and EMC Director Siddharthan Chandran will be among the panel members for the Q&A session afterwards. The film-makers are encouraging people to organise their own screenings of the film on or after June 21st and will provide it for audiences of any size. See more information at http://www.iambreathingfilm.com/register. Please let us know if you hold a screening! Also for Global MND Awareness Day, EMC researchers will be tweeting their thoughts and ideas throughout the day in collaboration with our partners at EuroStemCell. You can read their tweets at https://twitter.com/eurostemcell.
