Visiting the Clinic
Appointments at the Clinic are made after referral by a GP or NHS Consultant. We regret that we cannot provide appointments after requests from individuals.
The MND Clinic is based at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE), in Medical Outpatients Department 2 (MOPD 2), and takes place on a Tuesday morning.
On the first visit, you will meet one of the two doctors, Professor S Chandran or Dr R Davenport, and the clinic's nurse, Judith Newton. They will discuss the diagnosis, help decide what your needs are, and arrange any further tests required. We have access to various supportive therapists, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy, as well as more specialised services such as ventilatory support. We very much encourage you to bring your partner and/or close family to the consultation, and recommend that you think in advance about any questions you might like to ask.
Subsequent follow-up visits can be planned after the initial consultation.
