The Three Peaks 24-Hour Mountain Challenge

Feb 2011

In April 2010, Drew Craig raised over £2,000 for The Euan MacDonald Centre by successfully completing the 25th Marathon des Sables – a 151 mile (243km) endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco. This year, to raise money for the Centre, Drew and his friends are taking on the Three Peaks 24-Hour Mountain Challenge, which is widely regarded as one of the UK's most demanding events: an ultimate test of both physical and mental stamina.

The event involves climbing Snowdon in Wales (1085m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Ben Nevis in Scotland (1344m), all within 24 hours. The members of the team are all close friends of Euan MacDonald, having studied together at St Andrews University. A core team of climbers will summit all three peaks; they will also be joined at each mountain by further 'support' climbers who will be climbing one of the three peaks.

Drew commented "This will be a terrific challenge and it will be great to have so many of Euan's friends involved as we move from location to location. I hope the weather and the M6 traffic are kind to us!"

Drew and his friends will be climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in May 2011. To find out more about this fantastic fundraising adventure, or to make a donation, please visit https://edinburghuni.workwithus.org/fundraising/Donate.aspx?page=6451
