The Euan MacDonald Centre is contributing to raise awareness of MND and what we do:
- We are manning a stand in the Mall of the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh on Thursday 5th June from 11am-5pm. We will have researchers on-hand to talk through some of our research, plus some freebies to give away! Do pop along to say hello if you are in the area.
- We will also be manning a stand at the Satrosphere Science Centre, Aberdeen. Date to be confirmed shortly.
- Our annual postgraduate seminar afternoon was held on 30th May – a chance for all the researchers to get together and swap ideas. Watch this space for a summary post soon.

- We are contributing blogs to the MNDA’s “A blog a day” and will also post our blogs here.
Fundraising golf day
The Ballater Charitable Chiels are holding their annual golf Texas Scramble on 13th June.
The Sandy Barclay Memorial Fund for MND Research has been made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Barclay Family and the Ballater Charitable Chiels who have cumulatively raised over £100,000 for research into MND at the Euan MacDonald Centre in Edinburgh. They have raised this impressive sum by organising an annual fundraising event in memory of Sandy (Lindsay’s late husband and former member of the Charitable Chiels who lived with motor neurone disease).
The Sandy Barclay Memorial Fund helps fund early career researchers in the field of MND research by supplying PhD students and Post-doctoral Fellows with a range of resources which are critical to our research efforts. These include small grants, training costs and day to day research resources.
This year’s Texas Scramble:
Friday 13 June 2014
Ballater Golf Club (www.ballatergolfclub.co.uk)
Victoria Road, Ballater, Aberdeenshire, AB35 5QX
David Hampton, Graham Campbell, Lawrence Dickson and Neil Burns will be again representing the Euan MacDonald Centre at this event.
We are extremely grateful to Lindsay and the Chiels for their continued and generous support and are honoured to acknowledge that the Sandy Barclay Memorial Fund for MND Research has been made possible entirely by the fundraising efforts of The Ballater Charitable Chiels and the Barclay Family.
