The Ballater Charitable Chiels Annual Texas Scramble, June 2015

The Ballater Charitable Chiels were founded in 2001 and since then have raised over one hundred thousand pounds in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre for Motor Neurone Disease as well as tens of thousands of pounds for charities in and around their local community. The Chiels biggest fundraising event takes place every June at Ballater Golf Club. Golfers from all over Scotland take part in a Texas Scramble to win the Sandy Barclay Memorial Cup which celebrates the life of Sandy Barclay whilst continuing the charity work he was so enthusiastically involved in.

Ballater Charitable Chiels LogoThe Sandy Barclay Memorial Fund helps fund early career researchers in the field of motor neurone disease research by supplying PhD students and Post-doctoral Fellows with a range of resources which are critical to their research efforts. These include small grants, training costs and day to day research resources.

We are extremely grateful to Ballater Golf Club for their continued and generous support of this annual fundraising event. Ballater Golf Club, which is set in the heart of the Royal Deeside forty miles west of Aberdeen, offers a warm welcome, breath taking scenery and an interesting and challenging golf course.

We are looking for teams of four to compete in this year’s Texas Scramble which is being held on Friday 19 June 2015. Team entry costs £200 and includes a delicious hot buffet lunch. A silent auction will be held throughout the day with a grand raffle being held in the evening.

If you are interested in entering a team or supporting the event (raffle prizes or silent auction items) please contact either kerry.mackay@ed.ac.uk or andy@distillery.freeserve.co.uk.
