The Euan MacDonald Centre at the University of Edinburgh

The Euan MacDonald Centre is unique in Scotland, combining a focal point for MND patients and a diverse research base of approximately 30 Principal Investigators and their teams.

Diverse and wide-ranging research interests

Led by neurologist and researcher Prof. Siddharthan Chandran, the Principal Investigators of the Centre are drawn from all over the University of Edinburgh, with key Partners drawn from other Universities and hospitals in Scotland. The Principal Investigators include experts in regenerative medicine and stem cell research, neuroscience, molecular medicine and genetics.

Investment in Infrastructure

The Euan MacDonald Centre is a "centre without walls", with Principal Investigators drawn from across the Edinburgh campus. The Centre is based at Little France, on the site of the New Royal Infirmary and the University of Edinburgh’s medical school and emerging biomedical campus.

The Centre is closely linked, both physically and academically, to the Centre for Neuroregeneration  (Director: Prof. Peter Brophy), the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine (Director: Prof. Ian Wilmut) and the Edinburgh Centre for Multiple Sclerosis Research (Co-Directors: Prof. Charles ffrench-Constant & Prof. Siddharthan Chandran). All four Centres share broad interests in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease and translational research into stem cell-based medical therapies.

Active Fund-raising

The Centre works closely with the Development and Alumni office of the

University, which actively seeks to source ongoing funding and support for the Centre and its work.
