Music and poetry fund-raising dinner in Nairn
November 2011We would like to thank to everyone involved in the recent awareness- and fund-raising event at Geddes House in Nairn. Over seventy people enjoyed an evening of fine food and excellent entertainment, whilst raising over £2,500 for the EMC.
We would like to thank Siannie Moodie (for entertaining guests with her clarsach playing) and poets Richard Medlington and Elspeth Murray for presenting their Festival Fringe poetry. We would also like to thank Nairn-based companies Wester Ross Fisheries, Connage Dairy and The Really Garlicky Company for supplying the delicious menu.
Many of those who attended the event have lost loved ones to MND, and Shuna Colville, MND Research Nurse at the Euan MacDonald Centre, spoke movingly of the work that she and colleagues are doing to help patients in Scotland fight this very cruel illness.
Organisers Elizabeth Mackintosh-Walker and Robyn Ruane were delighted with the response to the event and the increased awareness of MND it brought: "We hope that the funds raised for the research centre will speed up the time when MND is no longer so sinister an illness."
On behalf of everyone at the EMC, we would like to thank Elizabeth Mackintosh-Walker and Robyn Ruane for organising and hosting this awareness- and fund-raising evening.
