Community fundraising update

ballater-chiels2013As always our supporters have found imaginative ways to fundraise for the Euan MacDonald Centre. Here’s a round-up of what they’ve been up to in the last few months.

Many thanks to Hugh Kerr for taking part in the Ironman Lanzarote to raise in memory of his friend Helen O’Hare. Hugh endured a 2.6 mile swim in the sea, a 112 cycle ride and a marathon all in one day, raising £1,000 for the Centre.

Thank you to Malcolm Tudhope for raising £495 for the Centre at his Xfest music festival in May.

Euan MacDonald Centre Staff took part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and organised a fantastic ceilidh in May; these two events raised over £7,000.

Thank you Ailsa Thompson and friends for organising a Fashion Show at Matalan, which raised £1,200 for the Centre.

The Barclay Family and Ballater Chiels organised another brilliant golfing day in June in aid of our motor neurone disease research; huge thanks for their generous support over the past six years.

Good luck to Matthew Moore, Christian O’Meara, Lance Kyle and Christian Aaselund when they cycle 200 miles in a day from Seattle to Portland to raise money for the Centre.

Congratulations to Carole and Mickey Cowen who are celebrating 50 years of marriage by holding a Golden Wedding Party for their family and friends on Sunday 7th July 2013. Instead of gifts they are asking their guests to donate to the Euan Mac Donald Centre.

Good luck to Tim Campbell when he takes on the challenge of swimming the Hellespont strait in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre. Tim will swim from Europe to Asia on Friday 30th August – to support Tim’s efforts visit https://edinburghuni.workwithus.org/Tim.

Claire Kelly and Julie Wilson are taking on the Loch Ness Marathon on 29 September to raise money for the Centre – visit https://edinburghuni.workwithus.org/LochNess and https://edinburghuni.workwithus.org/Julie for further information.

There are lots of different ways to fundraise for the Centre from selling items through eBay for Charity to simply nominating the Euan MacDonald Centre at your local supermarket. For more information on how you can help contact Kerry.Mackay@ed.ac.uk / 0131 650 9221.
