Golf Day Raises £17,000 for the Euan MacDonald Centre

July 2010
The Texas Scramble Golf Day, courtesy of Ballater Golf Club, is an annual event to raise funds in aid of The Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research & The Ballater Community. This year's tournament took place on Friday 11th June with teams playing to win the Sandy Barclay Memorial Jug. As in previous years this event was organised by the Ballater Charitable Chiels and Lindsay Barclay, with much assistance from family and friends.

It was an early start for the competitors with the first four ball team teeing off at 7.00am on a lovely summer's morning. Seventy three teams took part with 292 players. The day finished at the 18th hole with a dram of whiskey courtesy of Royal Lochnager Distillery and participants were then looked after by the caterers and bar staff!

Funds were raised through competition entry fees, auctions and various other means. Auction prizes were highly sought after and included a Masters Golf Package, 42' television and an overnight stay in Dalmahoy Golf Club.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in this event, with special thanks to Lindsay Barclay and the Ballater Charitable Chiels. This very special day raised a total of £32,000 with £17,000 being generously donated to the Euan MacDonald Centre. The remaining £15,000 will be used to fund various charitable works within the Ballater Community.
